THERE'S A SAYING IN business that employers should take care of their employees, who will take care of the customers, who will take care of the company's bottom line.

This philosophy is especially true in hospitality, where front-line employees have the most frequent interactions with our guests.

Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult for employers to look after their employees because of ever-increasing health care costs. Since 1999, the average cost of family premiums for employer-provided health insurance, which covers most Americans, has increased by approximately 250% – about five times faster than inflation. Average deductibles have more than tripled over this time frame.
