Tailoring education to meet workforce needs

7 Sep 2015

"The future of higher education is to provide some sort of applied connection either during or after the liberal arts experience. We need high-impact talent. There's an opportunity if we think creatively," ~University of Wisconsin System President Ray Cross on the state’s talent gap.

UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire, and UW-River Falls have partnered to create the Northwest Wisconsin Engineering Consortium. The plan is to offer new engineering programs to help to meet current and future workforce needs with local talent so that companies don’t move out of the state or recruit engineers from elsewhere because of lack of mechanical and electrical engineers.
