Local company an innovator in recycling

21 Sep 2015

Wooden pallets are integral to the shipping and delivery of goods. But did you know that wooden pallets–along with wooden shipping containers–consume 44 percent of all the hardwood produced in the U.S. annually? Thankfully, the recycling of wood pallets has dramatically increased over the past 30 years.

Starting in 2006, Specialty Pallet aNd Crate (SPNC) in Menomonie began innovating in this arena, providing an outlet for used pallets. The company produces recycled and new shipping products as well as items like mulch and livestock bedding. Their wood pellets can even be used to heat businesses.

Dunn County EDC helped SPNC find a new building and location. The company now employs 40+ people and continues to grow at a rapid rate. Learn more about this trendsetting green company! http://ow.ly/OB69V
