As we welcomed the New Year, we were reminded that we are another year older. While that is apparent to us as individuals, it is easy overlook our regional workforce. It is aging as well and quicker than we might realize.

During the 19-year period between 1946 and 1964, around 76 million people were born in the United States. We know this generation as the Baby Boomers. Many of you reading this are Boomers.

The Silent Generation, those who were born before 1946, was much smaller with about 55 million. After surviving the Great Depression and then World War II, they went to create an economic revolution in the US. Speaking in generalities, it was typical that the men went to work and the women stayed at home and raised the children.
