On June 24, a diverse group met at University of Wisconsin-Stout for the rollout of the Northwestern WI Collaborative for STEM. A group of well over 100 representing the fields of education, business, industry, workforce development, government and economic development, gathered at UW-Stout’s Jarvis Hall to address the need more for more education at all levels in northwestern Wisconsin in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) disciplines.

There needs to be more instruction given in these fields at all educational levels, Kindergarten through 16 as well as with adult learners. This will have an incredible economic impact on our region, as knowledge gained by studying in these fields is an absolute necessity to bring about the innovation and create the technologies we need to compete in a global economy.
