From newspaper front pages to Facebook newsfeeds, the same images will appear in the coming weeks: smiling college graduates adorned in caps and gowns, flanked by proud parents. Unfortunately — especially in our part of the state — once the gown is back on the rack and dorm room contents are packed into the car, that car is often headed away from employers who need these graduates to stay.

“Too many of our graduates go back to where they came from or larger metropolitan areas to start their careers,” says Steve Jahn, executive director of Momentum West, the organization charged with helping spur economic development in a 10-county area of western Wisconsin.
